What Building Regulations Apply to Flat Roof Rooflights?

Part L: thermal performance

The structural opening

Beyond about 1.5m, into an existing roof, into unknown or historic structure, near a supporting wall, or where the roof carries anything else, a structural engineer’s calculation is needed, and Building Control will normally want it. Part K: guarding
Part K, protection from falling, applies where glazing is at low level or where a walk-on unit is involved. On a standard rooflight in a ceiling well above head height it rarely bites. Part B: fire and escape

Planning, briefly
